For a recent birthday, we bought a humongous and cheap cake from Costco and crash landed LEGO spaceships into it, and decorated it with LEGO bricks. It went over very well with the five year old boys! I highly recommend this cheap option for your next birthday—just let your kiddo crash LEGO creations into the cake, your child will thank you.
