…and just like that…I’m back! I am emerging from my annual one-month social media fast after 35 days. I have so much to say but won’t say any of it yet. Instead, I did some sketches so you can see the difference. I just love before-and-afters, don’t you? So, the first drawing is the Before. It is what social media feels like to me:
The second one is the After:
Aaaaaaahhhh. Much better. On a purely formal level, can you see how the object went from being all upwards, outwards and going in many directions, to an object rather like a chestnut-onion that is all inward, layered and self-contained? That pretty much sums it up. I’ll tell you more soon…but I’ve gotta do this slowly.
Hope you are well and good and that your summer is full of hibiscus iced tea and brightly colored beach towels.
…and one more thing: I’d like to say that you are so much more than an algorithm. And so am I.
xo, Carrie B.
I don’t know if I could handle a social media fast for one month (does that include email?) I’ve only done weekend fasts, but I think your sketches are spot on, especially the first one, I often feel as if I am being pulled here, there and everywhere with everything that is going on with social media, and after a break I feel much more centred and calm.
Hey, I like it that you are “back” 🙂 !!
Just don’t start getting stressed by social media again, please…
It’s just for fun!!!!
Ahhh… well, you have just reminded me that if I don’t take care of me, I have nothing to share. My opinion only.
So glad to have you feeling like you have “social media” and not like it has you. Yay111
Looking forward to your thoughts and images. Great summer wishes
Pip-so much more centered and calm! I did still get emails and reply because I need to for work and just general life housekeeping and organizing stuff. I also still texted, although I tried to keep that at a minimum. Cheers on your fast!
Big kiss, Verena! Your quilts are on their way back to you. xo
Christina- so true! Happy summer. Thank you.
Thanks, Lee!
