Chicken Julie is good people. I met her with her LAMQG (that’s L.A. Modern Quilt Guild) posse two years ago at the Long Beach Quilt Festival where I was introducing my brand. We all bonded– Julie, Ramona (who you’ll meet in a few days), and Tess. We got along famously.

GenerationQ founders, Jake Finch, Melissa Maher, and Megan Dougherty, have backgrounds in quilting journalism. They recently decided there was a spot in the market for a publication focusing on the community of the modern quilting/sewing movement and GenQ was born as an online magazine. (They even featured me right here.)
I am sorry about the narcissistic swerve into horn-tooting of late, but there is seriously a lot of great press happening right now. I was crazy honored when Linda Blinn, editor at Studios Magazine, asked if I would write a bit about crafting with kids. But when I opened the package from them yesterday I was stunned by the beautiful pages filled with photos and words about our messy, happy art-making adventures. I have officially published the first-ever sewing patterns for two of my designs. It was a lot of work and it took a village. I am so grateful to the amazing friends I have in my life who helped me with the graphic design, photography, editing, and proofing of my patterns. I am absolutely excited beyond words. (Flip, Lisa, Cyndi, Val, Jill and Sarah…thank you for your help!)
