Are you ready for the new year? I’m thrilled and honored to be teaching at Craft NAPA in gorgeous Napa Valley, California at an incredible new retreat created by Pokey Bolton. She is bringing together many fabulous teachers for this event to get your creative juices flowing and help guide you into your creative passion. I do believe you guys like words and text and letters just as much as I do, and boy do I have a fun book for you. Every once in a while I have a cool opportunity from a publisher to review a book and/or do a giveaway. You know–feed the buzzmill.  Sometimes the books are absolutely awesome like this one: The Art of Whimsical Lettering by Joanne Sharpe. I liked it so much when I saw it that I asked for an additional copy to give away to my readers. read more

dear, world–
after a long,
long pause,
am painting again.
will need your help:
your galleries,
your support,
your kindness.
need reminders to
be so brave.
need to be empty.
but this time,
beginner’s mind it’s not.
for all of my love of not-knowing
how to do things,
i’m afraid i’ll have to own up
to this one-
that i know this tongue-
that this language begins
where nouns and verbs end.
and to be unafraid.
and to play.

I really can’t share a lot. And you know that it is so hard to keep a secret. And I have been patient since I finished these designs in September. Tap, tap, tap…patiently waiting. So patient. Big fabric news!

I am super excited to share this news with you. As an abstract painter, this is a logical step for me and I am honored that Windham Fabrics will be producing my first-ever line of fabrics. (!!!) I loved making the collection. All I can say for now is that I designed this line of fabrics as a line that I would want to sew with. The folks at Windham are so kind and fun to work with. Their design team is making all the magic happen now and I can’t wait to get the fabrics so I can start sewing up a storm. When I get the go ahead, I’ll give you some sneak peeks. We will all just have to wait and see! You know, honestly, I am just over-the-moon excited and honored that I will see my work on fabric. It is thrilling, really. I mean, my fabric will zoom all over the place and be in stores and people will sew with it and continue the story I started with my designs. That is amazing to me. I am rather speechless.
