Dear World,

It is finally time to share my next fabric collection with you. World, meet Story!

What is your story? What is essential to you? Your native tongue? Your family–community–country–tribe–village? What is your color story? Your personal mythology? The legacy of generations?

Story is about community, connection and the essentials of life: home, family, love, garden, nature, stars, moon, sun, animals, friends. In Story, you’ll find archetypal building blocks of your personal narrative. What is your story? Tell us. Share it. Add to it. Make it yours. When we share ourselves with the world, we become whole. 

Staring up at the stars, we capture the magic, wonder and awe of this gorgeous thing we are doing called LIFE. How lucky are we for this chance to breathe the midnight air–to hold another’s hand–to know love–to feel part of a tribe.

Why else do you think we are all here sewing and instagramming about our work? Why is it that sewing, crafting, making and creating call to us in our modern world? That call is the whisper from our ancestors–urging us to make things with our hands to make meaning and magic in our lives. We get to tell our story. Each time we make anything, we etch our realness into the world through our hands. We make sense of this beautiful life by making stuff.

My friends from around the world were asked to tell their stories through the fabric. The results are stunning. They told stories of their families, desires, passions, and myths. Over the next week, stop by their blogs and IG feeds to see their beautiful efforts. Here is the party schedule:

Oh my gosh!!! I should live to long as to win. Our LQS carries almost has of you Paint fabric and has to date quite a bit of my quilting allowance. I just love you fabric. Can’t wait to see what others have made.

I am looking forward to buying this range, hopefully it will be available in Australia in September as well, thanks for the chance to enter.

What a great collection and the story concept is terrific. All of my life I have found peace and joy in sewing, and embroidery – it is still a joy to me with every new thing I finish and give away. I am so grateful to have sewing and needlework in my life. My grandmother was a needlewoman and so was my mother – one of my daughters is interested and does what she can but she has a young family right now.

I would love to quilt my story with these beautiful fabrics. For the last six months I have found myself first in a hospital and then in a nursing home. Some of that story is sad, but these fabrics would bring some happiness to it. Thx for the chance to win.

What a gorgeous line of fabric! I love Quilt Dad’s quilt and his story. I think I need to make my soon-to-be 12-year-old daughter a moon phase bag of some sort with this fabric.

The houses are perfect for a project I’m working on right now-I hope I can wait until September! I have Nine Patch blocks with colorful houses at North, East, South, and West, with a village green in the center, and midnight starry skies! It’s amazing how little bits of serendipity can happen.

I’ve always thought that handmade items tell a story. The fabric used, the pattern completed, the placement of the stitches all tell a story about the maker, the giver, and the intent for the receiver. Is the item to be careworn and faded after so many years of use? Is it to be cherished and passed down? My grandmother’s quilts are not perfect, but I don’t want perfection, I want the story.

The French philosopher Rousseau said: “There is no greater wisdom than kindness.” I would love to use the Story collection in a quilt for a dear and older friend who just received a cancer diagnosis. She could wrap herself in it during and after chemo.

Until I saw the Houses quilt made out of this fabric line, I hated them. Now, I am going to have to make that quilt!

Last week I was lucky enough to visit an observatory and I feel privileged to have looked at Jupiter and saw all four moons in alinement with my little eye (and avery large telescope) – awesome. This week, after reading your blog it made me reflect that I am privileged to be part of an amazing tribe in this moment and time where sharing stories has never been so simple. Love this collection and how it fits into many projects that are now rifting through my thoughts.

Lovely collection. I am especially drawn to the quilt that shows simple house shapes amist newsprint background. As a journalist at heart, this quilt is indicative of how I think of my home. I place to immerse myself in news and knowledge. Innovative and very creative, indeed.

The colors and patterns of these fabrics are so gorgeous! But the most special part is the thought and sentiment behind this collection. Love the whole vibe. I would love to use it in a modern quilt block that shows off all the prints.

I love the darkish vegetable green with the vibrant pink and orange! Reminds me of my story, a heritage of farmers… And a heritage of quilters that skipped a generation or two , … But I’m working to bring the craft back where it belongs.

My story is my family’s story. my grandmother and great grandmothers stories. They sewed and quilted and made things with their hands. I’m so ticked to own a quilt they both made. And now I pass one of theirs and one of mine on to a cousin. A quilt I made my 10 year old nephew was his favorite present that year. And this younger generation is ticked to receive my quilts, and wants to learn, and are creative. And the love gets passed on and family is cherished.

I liked the bundle of Story I saw but, I have to admit, that it wasn’t until I went through the Look Book that I really fell in love with it! I love Story now and if I’m not lucky enough to win here, I’ll be very excited to buy what I can when it comes out! You did”ignite my creativity” when I saw the colors used together in such beautiful, eye-popping ways. It’s like subdued electricity at times and other times reminded me of bright children’s chalk, inviting you to play with it! My favorite photo is the one on front showing the three generations of women. To me, the deep blue with its white strings is the family that ties the materials, the other bits, the stories together. It’s the glue that lets the other bits shine. Okay, enough of my English essay, but that’s how I show I’m excited. I really love the white geometric design on dark teal. It looks so fun scattered through the clamshell quilt, filling entire shells and leaving others partially filled. Such great design. And I would love to have a copy of your book. I’ve been hearing about it all over the place.

Usually, I resist entering giveaways. So many entries, mine will never be picked. Today is different. Your choice of color in this line is delightful. I so love your Story fabric collection. It reminds me of being a young girl sewing some of my clothes and invariably selecting bright colors to make dresses out of. I love the colors and designs. The words and thoughts around Story are pretty awesome as well. I love the idea of mixing sewing and fabrics with telling your story. That feels both unique and deeply grounded in a rich and beautiful history of textiles and art.

I was just thinking this morning that my 6 (so far) grandkids could be called “sparklers or sparklets or sparkles” since Sparks is part of my name…and then am reminded of your book!

My story design would be like what we call in the Southwest; a Storyteller. She is a mature, full figured (not unlike myself) woman completely surrounded by children listening to her stories.

Much like I was as a teacher and as I am as a Gramma.

This book and fabric would be perfect!
