It’s a party! I was thrilled to be included in the blog party and G I V E A W A Y in celebration of Amy Butler’s newest book, Piece Keeping! Amy is a gorgeous, inspiring human on many levels, not least of which is her generous soul. (Plus I learned to sew six years ago making her Birdie bag.)
You will absolutely love her new book. It is filled with inspiring patchwork projects to unleash your inner sewinista in boho style. It was really hard to pick a favorite project but I chose the super cool Talisman Necklace and got to work.
I raided my stash for bits of African, Japanese, and Hmong Hill Tribe textiles for my teensy beaded triangles. I chose a warm palette of orchid, muddy mauve, saffron and hot pink. The palette is making me happy. So happy.
Short on time, I just made three fabric pyramids and then realized that they would look amazing with some thingamajigs I bought at a craft show a few years ago. Also, I’m a huge fan of the recycled silk sari ribbon from Ken at Leilani Arts as you can see!
It just so happened I got a new car on the day I sewed, so I had my answer…Talisman Keychain! I love to wear textiles from around the world…like a hippie urchin in sari + sarong + Mexican flour sack dresses. So, this little key chain is making my heart sing! It says, “…hey, I’m an artist. With a capital A.” And I love that declaration. Plus it has little bells and beads and puff balls and I’M SO NOT GONNA LOSE MY KEYS! Like, ever.
Amy’s directions are simple and clear. And I can’t wait to make other projects from the book as gifts.
As a part of the blog tour, there is a giveaway of all the lusciousness that is in the first picture! One reader of my blog will win the following prize: a fat quarter bundle of Amy’s latest fabrics from FreeSpirit, a selection of her ribbons from Renaissance Ribbons, and Amy’s new book, Piece Keeping! Just leave a comment here. We will randomly pick a winner on July 21st.
Be sure to follow all of the great creatives on this blog tour. Each blogger will be offering a giveaway so you have lots of chances!

If I win this, I plan to share with my 15 year old granddaughter who is having major surgery for scoliosis on August 1st.
