Day 5 of my creativity challenge! I’m going to jump ten thousand steps ahead and tell you the real truth about creativity. Some of you will find it whacky or “out there” and others will resonate deeply with it. But either way, it is my truth. And I do believe it is the truth:
Creativity isn’t what you do. It is who you are. It isn’t just in your mind and heart and actions…it is in your every cell. Let it move you. Let it dance you. Let it become you. Let the steps in between the rest of your life be filled with the same spirit as making a drawing, sewing, painting, etc. Dance through your life. I am posting the world’s most embarrassing photo stills to show you: no makeup–hair wet from the shower–dancing and singing in my studio as I have done since I was a teenager–in private. If you ever wonder what the life of a working artist looks like, well…that is pretty much what I look like when I’m in my studio…usually in a linen apron…usually with brush or scissors in hand–I spin, I dance, I get out of my own way.
It doesn’t matter if you can dance or not. Put on your favorite song in a private spot and let the love in you become you. Let it dance you. Let the creativity pour through you. Let it form you in its image. Let it come from somewhere bigger than you. Become creative from the inside out. If I can do it and share it…you can do it alone.
Wrong shirt, right idea! I was hoping to see the lotus on lotus!
LOVE it!!!!
Right on, feel the freedom within.
God Bless YOU ! Rock ON!!!!! ; )
While I haven’t been a big commenter lately I still read and enjoy your blog! I have to say I’ve done the same my whole life dancing in my studio, or anywhere in the house, is a great way to get your energy flowing. Barefoot spinning around and singing really out of tune does it for me every time!
