At Spring Quilt Market in Kansas City, I was walking to our booth and stopped in my tracks to see the beautiful fabric collection from Blend Fabrics for Anna Griffin. They really understand color. The palettes in all of their collections are softly bold—or boldly soft—really gorgeous and usable. They just make you want to sew!
The really, super nice folks from Blend asked if I’d like to use their fabrics for a project and so I said, “ooooohhh, yes, please, thank you!” The fabrics are ultra-soft to the touch. The prints are fresh and fun. I chose the adorable Crabtastic collection (click here) and decided to make some beachy little crab shacks using my Wonky Little Houses pattern. I just love newspaper prints and we used the lobster/crab/crawfish theme to create little embroidered signs for the shacks.
***Note to bloggers: You would be ill-advised to throw a brand new quilt into chlorinated water. If I had a beach handy, I would have styled the shot by the sea. Alas, a pool was the closest summer spot here in the desert. Bad idea for the fabric—the lovely coral colored lobsters are now a bit pink. (Fun photo shoot though.) 🙂
Where in “the desert” are you?
