Lately, we have been making Sockies in our house…that is our made-up name for sock stuffies. There is nothing perfect about a Sockie. They are down-and-dirty, cheap-and-easy fun! All you need is a sock, a rubber band to close it, a marker and some polyfil (or rice…or sand…or crumpled newspaper!)
The big boy made one a few weeks ago and he has slept with it ever since. For a child, there is just something so appealing about a homemade stuffed animal. And these are five-year-old boy proof! So quick and easy- not fussy or deliberate. In fact, he designed it himself. It was all his idea.
So, I made Sockies with all the kids at his school today. They each designed and fabricated their own Sockies. I even took my sewing machine to sew them shut and so they could add arms, ears, aprons, etc. Look how cute they are!
*Note to parents: It is really great to always have a bag of polyfil on hand for spur-of-the-moment stuffies!
LOVE your sockies!! 🙂
D loves hers. Thanks so much for spending the time and energy on this project.
