Big fabric news!

I am super excited to share this news with you. As an abstract painter, this is a logical step for me and I am honored that Windham Fabrics will be producing my first-ever line of fabrics. (!!!) I loved making the collection. All I can say for now is that I designed this line of fabrics as a line that I would want to sew with. The folks at Windham are so kind and fun to work with. Their design team is making all the magic happen now and I can’t wait to get the fabrics so I can start sewing up a storm. When I get the go ahead, I’ll give you some sneak peeks. We will all just have to wait and see! You know, honestly, I am just over-the-moon excited and honored that I will see my work on fabric. It is thrilling, really. I mean, my fabric will zoom all over the place and be in stores and people will sew with it and continue the story I started with my designs. That is amazing to me. I am rather speechless. Thank you, Windham! Here is their press release from today:

Hurrah for school! This was a very quick sketch made with a red Crayola marker. I scanned it in and played with it. I am having boatloads of fun. Lovin’ Live Trace in AI.

I think I just wee-weed in my pants with sheer excitement and delight about the little LEGO minifigure I just managed to create FROM SCRATCH in Adobe Illustrator. I never even cried. I drew all of his tiny parts with the Shape tool and the Pen in Illustrator. (I know it isn’t perfect.) But I think I might possibly be kicking some serious mommy ass and win some best-mom-ever awards (only from my son, of course). A custom LEGO minifigure of his own? I think I just p e e d again! This might be the holy grail. Think of the possibilities…think of what this could mean! Where do we go from here? read more
