Many of you have met my amazing mom. She’s rather likeable and charismatic. She is bold and brave and a take-charge kinda gal. I love going to Quilt Market and Festival with her because she is my one-person cheerleading squad. She is incredibly supportive of me and always has been. And we laugh a lot together.
When she said she wanted to make her first-ever quilt, in characteristic style, mom decided to make a king size quilt for her own bed! (I still haven’t even made a king size quilt.) Although she is an interior designer and a very creative person, she doesn’t really sew very often. She used my Good Karma quilt pattern, but scaled up the templates a bit. She played with the templates to create her own shapes a few times. She chose a gorgeous, almost sandblasted palette from Marcia Derse’s beautiful fabrics. It was beautifully quilted by local longarm quilter, Judy Danz. The super-special quilting, which you can only see up-close, reveals the names of every person in her whole family inside of each of the decorative elements on the quilt. Awesome!
Even the back is pretty. |
