I am trying to write this post but I keep deleting the whole thing because I have no words (ah hem…for once.) I think the pictures above speak more clearly than I can (also a first!)
I have officially published the first-ever sewing patterns for two of my designs. It was a lot of work and it took a village. I am so grateful to the amazing friends I have in my life who helped me with the graphic design, photography, editing, and proofing of my patterns. I am absolutely excited beyond words. (Flip, Lisa, Cyndi, Val, Jill and Sarah…thank you for your help!)
So, in honor of firsts, I am offering my first-ever blog giveaway. Please leave a comment and tell me the names of your favorite local sewing stores that you think might like to carry these new patterns. And tell your friends! The winner will receive a copy of the “I’ll Huff & I’ll Puff” Finger Puppet Pattern. Leave your comments by Friday, March 25th at midnight. (Oh…and friends…please leave comments, too, so I will feel some blog-love in the blogosphere! And PS – for all of who who told me for months that you tried to comment but it wouldn’t let you…that is all fixed now.)
Carrie, These are SUCH cute patterns!! I love them but the finger puppet pattern is especially driving me nuts!
My favorite local fabric store is Eddie’s Quilting Bee in Sunnyvale, CA. They have lots of modern sewing patterns in their store, and many of them are original patterns coming from home-based craft business. I’m sure Eddie will love to have these patterns. Oh and Hart’s Fabric in Santa Cruz is fabulous too.
When I used to live in Seattle, WA, I used to go to Pacific Fabrics almost weekly. It has really amazing selections of everything.
I also want to mention Quiltique in Henderson, NV that I visited last week. It was just so therapeutic to be there – tons and tons of modern and fun fabrics! Ok, I’ll stop lol!
Hi Carrie Bean,
Here is my comment: you are too fab for words! I want to come make things with you someday. The store in LA that would totally sell these patterns is THE URBAN CRAFT CENTER! I’ve taken many a’class there. Modern (kind of Waldorf-based at the same time), funky, cool, awesome fabrics…
Mostly, I love the birthday blog entry to your mom. At first, I thought that was some kind of hipstomatic of you in a wig!
xoxo signe
This is so awesome Carrie. You deserve all the good things that will come your way.
As for LQS’s have you tried quiltz, mulqueen, 35th Ave, quilted apple (they are big into folk art type stuff)

Hi Carrie. So exciting! I have a little shop now called a.ware with a little workshop space on central next to Lola coffee. I’d love to host a happy hour featuring your patterns or carry them in the store. I’ve got my machine in the space if you ever want to teach a class or do a demo.

I love your patterns — Fabulous. Hancock Fabrics in Winston-Salem, NC would be interested. 🙂
Congratulations! Soon you will have an entire line of products and I can say, Oh I took a class from her at Bernina Connection when she just started out with these patterns (well, I can say that after next month’s class.) I’m sure you know of all the main quilt shops around, but also consider this non-quilt shop: Family Arts Needlework Shop; 5555 N. 7th St., Suite 144; Phoenix. There could be future devotees there.
Best to you,
Nancy
Our Modern Quilt Guild branch meet at Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill, NC
Love the finger puppets, but could give a home to one of those pillows, Good luck in your new venture.
Carrie- I LOVE, LOVE these patterns- they are amazing!!! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to see all of the things you will continue to create! You know I love the Whipstich store in Atlanta- I think they would sell these in a heartbeat. Hugs to you- how can I order a pillow? You know I am hopeless with my sewing machine- i tried, and I can try again!! XO!

Congratulations on your first two patterns! So refreshing!
What I like about your finger puppets is that the opening at the bottom is nice and big, so that children can actually hold them well and play with them. Love the angry wolf!
