In a birds-of-a-feather Crafting meet-up at BlogHer ’11 called Modern Marthas (as in Stewart), I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of the adorable Kate from PeepThread. She is a fellow blogger, mama, and sewist. Her blog is gorgeously photographed and bright. I am happy to say that we are now blog friends. (Hi Kate!) Take a look at the hilarious and creative way she used my Wonky Little Houses™ Pillow pattern—a Hitchcockian throw pillow. Great storytelling in this pillow. I have this same Echino bird print, but never thought to use it in such a clever and illustrative way. See more on her blog here.
In Kate’s funny words,”I unintentionally made an homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. I cast Judith as the lead character, Melanie, who was originally played by Tippi Hedren. Oh what, you think Judith would settle for a supporting role? If you don’t know, you betta ask somebody. The birds on either side of her are throwing some hateful side-eyes too. Remember in the movie how birds of all species flocked together to attack the town? That’s happening right now on my pillow.”
Look at what she did with our Twist-it!™ T-shirt yarn pattern. Feathers! This chick is so stylish. See more here. |
Aw, I feel honored to be on your blog! Both projects were the most fun I’ve had in awhile. The patterns were so easy to follow and I adore your designs. I can’t wait to see what Such Designs does next 🙂
Oh, this pillow is fab! The Birds scared the pants off me back in the day. You knew it was trouble when she went up those stairs to check out the noises…
