The quiet formlessness of Sundays often inspires me to a tender and soulful place. I was telling my kids that last night, after yet another of our many sessions of watching Shark Tank as a family together, I emailed their casting team and applied to be on it. As I told them I laughed and said, yes, of course the odds are very slim. But, no matter. And then I explained to them why:
You have to hail your life like a taxi cab–run into the street in the pouring rain like the passionate and slightly mad woman you are. Make sure life sees you out there–waving your arms–shouting for attention. Wondrous, wonderful things do happen. Serendipity and magic and miracles also happen. But for the most part, we have to chase down what we want and run soaking wet and breathless after it to get it. And we have to keep trying and keep chasing and keep going. Life doesn’t come to us, sitting on the sofa. We have to rush out and meet it. Dance naked in front of it. Exhale all the fire and glitter in your beautiful, exuberant, expressive being. Show your life you’re ready so it can find you.
Happy Super Soul Sunday. Now, go meet your life–hail it in the street–don’t wait anymore.
